Interior fan

I have a BMW 1998 528I. The interior fan goes up and down in speed no matter what setting it is on. And when I turn the car off it sounds like the fan in the back of the dashboard is still going. This turns off after a while, or I hope it does.. anyway, I never have a problem starting the car, so it must turn off. Can anyone help!! The a/c is working fine when its not going up and down in speed.

Yeah my fan does the continuous running after it's shut off too.

Don't worry about that, that just means you have a good bearing in your fan. (Such a small amount of resistance in the bearing that it takes a while to stop.) My car's fan takes about 10 seconds to stop because it is older, yours might take a lot longer since it's newer.

As for the fan speed, your reheostat for the fan speed control could be screwed.

Does this happen with the A/C on AND off?

If it only happens when it's on it could be that it's trying to speed the fan up to cool the car faster. Then slows it down when that's done.

Set the A/C as hot as it will go and then crank it to the coldest it will go if the fan speed increases when you turn it colder then you know that is what it's doing.

I have another question? I'm replacing the stock radio with a Clarion in-dash dvd player. I purchased the radio, dash converter for the radio, the Wiring Harness, and all the other parts that I need.. The problem I'm having is that there is no sound with the new unit. I know what the problem is, that is the speaker wires do not line up or should I say they are not there. Do you know if there are any other wiring kits or the solutions whne replacing the old stock radio/tape unit out.

I believe there are two wiring harnesses. One for all the speakers to go to the head unit. And a second one to change the crazy weird german antenna to a north american one. Otherwise you'll never be able to plug your head unit into the antenna.

I put a Clarion touch screen CD player in my 535I but thankfully my brother wired it for me so I didn't have to go through that nightmare.

BTW anyone looking for a 92 535I stock factory tape player I'm your boy! :D
