umm.. im planning on getting a crx and swap in a LS with a vtec conversion.. most likely im gonna get a vtec head from a integra type r (american spec).. what do i need to take from the type r to make the vtec conversion? i know u need the ecu.. intake manifold.. and the head.. do i take the type r pistons and cams and stuff? what about the gas pump or something.. iono.. any help is appreciated.. thanks..

I just recently learned a little bit about this conversion. You need to have a lot of work dont to the block to make sure it can handle the high revs. A stock LS block will not be stable for very long above 7k rpm. The LS block needs to have holes drilled in it for the oil line because the block is not made for vtec, so a professional needs to drill a hole for the oil line. It is said that you need at least a b16 oil pump for proper lubrication. You could use type r pistons instead of the ls pistons, I think you could raise your copmression with them (not 100% sure).

The type r head must be complete. Meaning the cams, cam gears, etc. should all be from the type r.

what about a 5 lug conversion.. would the type r assembly bolt on easy to a crx? i seen an article on it done on a 92-95 civic hatch.. but is it possible to swap it into a 88-91 crx? is there anything else on the type r that i can put into a crx? other than the motor.. thanks..
