Maxima vs. V6 Accord Coupe

My Friend always brags about how fast hi 2001 V6 Accrod coupe is. I have a 2001 Maxima GXE, I obviously have more horsepower but he says his car is much lighter so it equals out. He always challenges me to race but make excuses because im not sure if ill win. Do I have a chance or is his car really that fast as he says it is?

Edmunds lists the curb weight of the Accord V6 at 3283 lbs and Maxima at 3186 (Manual) or 3235 lbs (auto).

Got a 97 SE 5spd with intake/exhaust. Been there, smoked that. Have driven many of those v6 accords...not that impressed. Haven't driven the new Max's, but can't see it being that big of a deal.:o

mann...u should be real glad:D !....driving a max....cuz even my stock (auto) 99`max could take on a manuel 2001 (V6) accord.........
.....ahahaha....especially if u own a 222hp max?...rite?..ur accleration from 0~25,30 km/h will be the same but after u`ll pull away fast....i mean really fast....man trust me...just gunn it and u won`t be dissappointed by ur max...i raced a 99` mercedes E320...waseted it....max is a fast..sport/family sedan? :cool:

the accord V6 is rated at 16.1 so you should have no problem. I have a 92 max SE 5 spd and i went up aginst a 2000 SE auto he ran a 15.8 aginst my 15.4.

i don't know where your friend got the idea that his car is 'much' lighter than your Maxima...uh...unless he stripped his dash, seats, carpets, and he's driving on milk carton...:D

the 15.8 is a time slip for a fully loaded automagic 2000 SE....i've seen faster time slips than 15.8s from SEs...especially when they are modified...

my first time ever track experience, i've managed to get 15.1(before my exhaust, fuel pressure regulators and pulley)..
that day, i swore to god that i was going to buy the LSD...:D

theres no such thing as a 5spd accord v6.

stock 2 stock the maxima and the accord are pretty close.

btw i know of an accord putting down 210FWHP. on a n/a motor.

how many automatic maximas do that?

lol i drive an altima (4cyl) and i can hold my own against my friends 00 accord coupe 6cyl, and i have 50 hp less than he does! nissan makes bad ass engines i guess....

Currently I am a 2000 Max se owner. I used to own a 95 Max se and I
race a 92 Max se and you know who won. The 95 Max se(190hp) so I
think the 2000 Max se(222hp) will do better than the 95 or 92 models.

My best friend got a 2001 Accord Coupe V6 about the same time I got my 96 Maxima GXE. I am sure at 50,000 miles my car had lost some hp, but I decided to race him after he broke into his car. My car was stock at the time, and he a AEM CAI with a water bypass valve. In the race, we were head to head at 40 mph but that son of a bitch downshifted and his boost gave him like 1/8 of a car length over me.

i raced a 98 accord v6 sedan today and beat him by 3 car lengths. he had AEM CAI and exhaust. he also had NOS but he did not use it to be fair, but i did beat him :biggrin2:

how does an accord with just an intake have boost?

to the guy that started this thread...even the people on the accord forums agree that maximas will win....but of course it will be close so it all comes down to the driver....even with autos...i took my car to the track w/ another auto 2k (and a few others)...the few others got about half a second slower than me (because of mods) and the one guy got 2 seconds slower than me...even in autos, it depends on the driver...or you could always buy some mods and then race him *cough* nos *cough*

When you downshift you get a boost.

o, i get what you are trying to say

why downshift in a v6 accord...it is obviously an auto (since they only make v6's in autos) and they shift at redline so in v6 or any auto accord, they supposibly run just as fast by just flooring it and letting the tranny shift by itself

i'm not trying to get into an argument or anything...i was just wondering about the whole boost thing
