CD "Player Error"

Hi there.
My '02 still going strong, got A LOT of Milage on it in lately, needs a Radiator flush and probably new struts, shocks, and brakes, a nice new "pair of shoes" (tires), but there is a problem I have no idea of how to fix it:
My CD Player (that holds 6 CDs) does not work.
It does not eject, not read or does anything but wirring around for a long time (similar sound as when you switch between already fed CDs) and then finally displays "Player Error" and switches off.
Do I need a new one?
Oh, and some DIRTBAG hit the rear, so there is a huge dent in the back. GRRR!!!
