Dead out of nowhere

so today im on my way to class and out of nowhere my car starts sputtering as if i had no gas and then turns off. ive got a 90 integra that ive kept pretty good care of. i had a half tank of gas so thats not the problem. i tried to turn it over and i hear a dull thunking. after geting it towed back to my house and trying to start it my sister says the sound is coming from the back of the car.
ive taken off the block head and removed my spark plugs, the plugs are a little oily but the heads still look good. btw ive got the 2 prong bosch platnium plugs. the engine will turn over but will start rocking and try to start up but then dies.
any idea as to whats wrong? im going to replace the plugs and see what happens, i just hope nothing broke in the block.
thanks for the help

If there's a thunking in the back, I'd check the fuel pump. It may have self-destructed.

well ive checked all my fluids, wires connections, and belts and all look in good order. im going to yank out the injectors and change the fuel filter today. my dad thinks the same thing, somethnig wack with the fuel delivery.
what would be the signs of a self destructed pump?
