My roomate Anthony worked as a cook for the Hooters in our mall, and over thursday night they closed down with no warning. My friend and I thought it was a joke so we went to the mall, they really closed down, the entire Northeastern franchise went bankrupt only the private owned locations such as NYC stayed open. This is some bull, I miss the Hooters already, and the wings...and the legs. DAMNIT OWL WHY!?!?!?

I'm surprised they didn't close sooner. They've been in bankruptcy proceedings for quite awhile now, surprised they hung on this long. There were two Hooters in our area, one opened 12 years ago , the other about 4 years ago. The one that was opened 4 years, closed down last Fall, and the other one just shut down last week, (and it was reported in our paper that they just signed a 10 yr. lease on their spot just 2 years ago.) I know when they first opened 12 years ago,(in Carousel Mall,) they were located next to the giant carousel which is the centerpiece of this mall. Many people had issues with their location being next to the carousel where many parents brought their kids for a ride. They thought having the restaurant so close was "not in good taste." :uhoh:

tasted good to me. When we got there, they were moving all kinds of stuff out of the restaurant and my friend picked up his last paycheck.

I copied an excerpt from our local newspaper's article that ran yesterday about the closing:
"The restaurant would be a place for adults to hang out and watch sports on television, while their children played with the restaurant's toys, the manager said."
Gee, I wonder what 'toys' that would be??

I'm just waiting for some religious or moral-type group to come out of the wood work and claim responsibility for Hooters closing. They would probably base it on Hooters not being moral and many people are now realizing that( also playing on the fact of not being "politically correct",) and not patronizing them for that reason.

Same thing happened here last fall. Both the Hooters restaurants just randomly closed while I was away at school.

Yup. It's a part of American Culture that is being threatened.

And besides, it sure beats some of the "threads" that have been on lately,( "dumbest member on site" and "the official soda talk forum" quickly come to mind.)

so i found the one in town, doesn't look too open but i'll investigate further next time i'm around there. the sign's falling apart so it doesn't look like it's open. i've never been, is the food actually any good or is the only attraction the eye candy

put it this way, they can't survive even with women parading around, how good do you think the food is?

My stepbrother would cross the Atlantic just to go to Hooters, and then go back again if he just had the money. This is gonna break his heart.

our stripper bars serve wings and have an ATM that dispenses one dollar bills. Hooters never had a chance here.

I've been to Hooters only once and I remember thinking the food is OK but the prices are ridiculous. I don't remember the exact prices but it was something like 7 dollars for a beer! Most of the waitresses were nice and flirty but if I'm gonna pay 30 bucks for a hamburger and a beer she'd better take something off or give lapdances or something.

food is terrible. only time i would go is for football games with the guys. there would be 20 of us there. One guy once ate 50 wings in a sitting. That's a lot of greasy ass "chicken". Needless to say we had to find the plunger and lysol the next day.

You basically pay for the atmosphere of the restaurant. which isn't that great.

We have Wing House down here, which is cheaper and better. I think the Hooters here makes enough money during Bike Week to stay open all year, though.

You haven't been to the Hooter's in Gastonia, NC have you? Flat chested and flat boobed. Too bad their stomachs aren't as flat as their chests!

Chili's has hotter waitresses! It doesn't negate the fact their wings are very good though!

Meh. I'm certainly not losing any sleep over it. I've been to a Hooters once or twice in my days, and I was certainly not impressed. My memory is of a bunch of drunken "dudes" hooting and hollering while a bunch of sweaty, frazzled "chicks" with food stains on their orange spandex deliver them sub-par wings.

I can go to the beach for T&A -- a restaurant's only job should be to provide me a nice atmosphere and quality dishes that I wouldn't normally make at home. :grinyes:
