Do dealerships have "special" diagnostic equipment and special manuals that we consumers don't have access to?

I basically am ahaving amisfire on one cylinder that I can't resolve - I already got new (and tested) plugs, wires, injectors and can't seem to resolve the problem. Can't seem to figure out a vacuum leak if ever there is one.

I have since given up and plan on taking my car to the dealership and pay whatever their hourly rate is ($!) and fix the problem once and for all.

Do dealerships have access to certain resources that help them diagnose and pinpoint problems, or do they resolve by process of elimination like we do?

depends on the dealer, around me both dodge and mitsu dealers say bring it to the other one, cause it's that. bring it to one of those they might have precise measuring equipment or they may not.
if they dont, just tell them what u've done so u dont end up paying extra for them spending more time on what u've already done.
hourly rate by me is $50 an hour, but' my one friend does most of the work for me for free. only thing he doesnt like is thte aws and suspension

just b/c they're a dealership, doesn't mean they are competent to work on your car. all it means is that they are good at screwing you out of a LOT of money.

if i were you, i would call around to some independent shops and ask if they employ ASE certified techs, or ASE Master Techs. yes, shops and dealerships usually have high end scan tool devices, but the best place to take your car is to someone that specializes in high performance imports.

where are you located? perhaps i could recommend a place to you nearby.
