Rear View Mirror fell off

Hey Group;

I have a friend at work with a 2000 Old Intrigue. She has had the window regulator problem and now her rear view mirror has come loose. I got her to at least remove it so the wires are ok.
Any clues? How does the part that glues to the glass come out? Next anyone know of a better glue?

So it fell off where the mirror mounts to the glass? If thats the case you might try something as simple as superglue. It might be a bit runny though. But if it were my car I would try basic SuperGlue first, especially since it dries clear, and is pretty strong. I havent found too many things in life that cant be fixed with either duct tape, superglue, or some combination of both.

Not sure super glue is the best thing in this situation. The extremes in temperature may be too much for superglue.

n5xwb: Have your friend go to an auto part store and ask for glue to hold on the rear view mirror. They'll have the proper stuff. of course they could just give you super glue. At least you'll know you have the right stuff for the job. Shouldn't cost more then a couple bucks. Mirrors falling off the windshield happen all the time.

Thanks Group;

However, the problem is how does then mirror assm. come off the window mounting metal piece? That is the part to glue back on.
As for the glue - I am a HAM radio op with a car rig. I once upon a time had a glue on antenna. The only thing that I found that would hold it during HOT/COLD was E6000. Great stuff if you can find it. I t does dry hard but will stretch during HOT/COLD weather. I had one on the out side glass that lasted about as long as the car.
