Supercharging?

Hi all,

Just curious to see who out here (if anyone) has tried supercharging their Zetec ZX3? My engine is in strong shape and has ~90k on it. I am thinking of the S/C route with the powerworks package, but I am curious to see if the engine would need some freshening before doing this. I imagine so, but I'm not sure. Any help would be appreciated!

If you get a good quality supercharger from a good company you should have no trouble, Focussport and ford racing come to mind, I would reccomend (personal prefrence from my reasearch) the powerworks supercharger at www.focussport.com with it putting down 220hp to the ground, and it is co-developed by cosworth and that is always a very good sign. as far as having to "Build" you engine to take the boost, these kits are street applications and you should be fine as long as you don't drive the crap out of your car every min, but the supercharger will cause increased stress on the engine and it will therefore wear out sooner, but you shouldn't blow it up.

That was the exact supercharger that I was considering...Do you or does anyone out there have any experience with it? I'd like to do the install myself, as the kit says most can do.

I don't know of anyone who has installed the supercharger on their car, but I know a few people who have dealt with focussport before and they said that their cust. support was really good, I would imagine if you had any questions about the product that they could answer any of your questions, they have a dyno chart on the supercharger so i would imagine they have experience with it. good luck and keep us updated I'm looking at that one myself, it's just a couple years away for me

does anyone know at what hp rating does the Zetec start to call it quits? (break)
