Engine Headers...
95 Grand AM GT

I have a 1995 Grand Am GT with a 3.1L V6 engine with an automatic transmission. I've been looking to purchase some headers for a while but I can't find anybody that makes or sells headers for my car. Would it work if I bought headers for another car with the same engine size as mine such as the 1993 Chevrolet Cavalier? Or would it have to be the exact same engine? Also would the headers fit my car? I know many companies make headers for the 1996+ Grand Ams but i can't find any for my 95. Please help. And if anybody knows somewhere that has headers for my car please let me know.

Ok that site didnt have them...
I cant recall any changes between 95 and 96+ 3.1's ......
They should all fit.
I'll see if I can find them somewhere.

Thanks... but the only 96-98 model Grand AM's i can find have 2.4 Liter V6 engines... not 3.1 and that would make a big difference in the headers... wouldn't it? And the 99-05 models with SE have 2.2 and GT have 3.4 So that creates a problem.

Actualy the 2.4 is a 4cyl.
And 99+ they used a 2.4 and the 2.2 ecotec which you can find headers for those pretty eaily.
This place has them for the 3.4L V6 which is the same block as the 3.1. http://www.ssheaders.com/V6.htm
But I think the head face where they bolt up is diff so they probly wouldnt work.... :(
It basicly would improve performance by letting out the exhaust gases faster, which in turn means more air in :D
More air equals more fuel and more power!

which leads me right back to my question...if the 3.4 V6 grand am headers are different than the 3.1 V6, couldn't i just use headers made for another car with a 3.1L V6 motor? For example pacesetter makes headers for a 1993 Chevy Cavalier with a 3.1L V6

I guess I answered that in post #2 :uhoh:
I didn't know Pacesetter was still making the V6 headers .
