I can get the part for $88, I'm guess the Dealer will want to charge me $3-400 to put it in. Has anyone tied to replace this themselves and should I even try? I have some Mechanical ability but a little low on patience.
Thanks!

Yes, numerous people have replaced the clockspring on their own and have posted how they did it on this forum. Please use the "Search this forum" link from the Lincoln LS forum main page and search for "clockspring" and you should get a lot of hits.

Been searching the forum under "clockspring" and can't find instructions on getting inside the steering wheel to replace the clockspring.

The search will yield, among others, this thread: http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=331618&page=2&highlight=clockspring

Post #17 provides a link to another thread (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=563823&highlight=clockspring) which details the procedure as posted by Quik_LS in post #4.

Sorry to sound like I'm making this difficult, but the search feature really is great and under-utilized.

Welcome to the forum.

You may want to see if the clockspring is available from Fast Parts Network, http://www.trademotion.com/partlocator/index.cfm?siteid=318. I have not personally used this site, but know others who have and have been pleased with their service.
