Trans am Problem?

Okay yesterday while i was driving home, my car became very sluggish. I push the throttle and it just seems to bog down, at first it only did it in first gear but it would do it in every gear. It seems like the car didn't want to move. I would hit the gas and it seemed like i was flooding the engine with gas? I don't know if it's the trans cause it seems to shift fine in every gear? Could it be the opti spark?

It ended up been the catalytic converter. I called GM and the mechanic told me it was the cat over the phone. So i took it to my local shop and i had them put on a hi-flow cat for $125 installed. Wow it made such a huge difference. I had my flowmaster cat-back exhaust put on a month ago and then a week ago it started getting quieter. Well once i replaced the cat it sure got really loud. Damn i can seriously feel the difference in the throttle response. The mechanic said it will give me about 5hp? what do you guys think?

Yeah, this discussion has broken out before. 5hp, sure, anything more, like the fabled 50hp gain by running a polluter with no cat is a falesy.

Its probably the 5hp that the clogged cat robbed from you in the first place. Haha.

Cats often fail from other existing problems. It might not be a bad idea to have the car checked out to see if something caused the cat to fail so suddenly.

Yeah i'm taking it to the dealer tomorrow. my mechanic said that it just needed to be replaced. The car does have 103,xxx miles on it.

Yeah, I just have bypass pipes, which make it really freaking loud. At about 3k rpm+, you cant hear anybody talking, I love it.
As wright stated, it probably wont give you much more than 5hp, I still cant beat a damn cobra >_<
