Maxima Codes

Can a 95-99 maxima have a problem without indication? Can I take it to auto zone and have it pluged in to see if there is anything wrong or would I get a check engine light if there was something wrong. I've been noticing a serious reduction in fuel economy just recently and am wondering if the knock or o2 sensor can go out without warning.

Autozone can only read it if you have a CEL light on. Air filter, fuel filter, plugs and go from there.

There are certain problems that can occur and put a code in your computer and not trigger the "check engine light". If the vehicle is late 95 or later, take the vehicle to a shop and have it scanned in "Global OBD II" mode. The mechanic can access "Mode 6" and see if the vehicle has failed any tests and if so which component or monitor circuit it is in.

Raised handbrake handle may keep rear brakes dragging; easily adds consumption +10%. Engine computer is a hi speed dummy - as all computers are: its ponytail programmers xbox-brains (using imaginary preprogrammed predetermined errorcodes) pose a barrier what this stupido machine can relay to living beings ... humans outside their 'obd-game screen'. This 'missin darwinist dark age link' may cause NO CEL when there is a problem and/or CEL ON when there are no problems. Ooops: one has to exercise common sense.
