How can i mask the rims on Tamiya's Porche GT2 to get the silver and gold finish?

I would just brush paint the gold areas in acrylic gold. Masking rims is very difficult, and might pull up the plating as well. Careful painting of the mesh portion in gold can be accomplished w/a good brush, and nobody will know or care that you used a brush. I detail paint many small parts w/a brush and acrylic paints.

If you must mask, I'd use Tamiya masking tape and very carefully trim it w/a sharp/new #11 blade. The masking tape must be burnished down well w/a toothpick and Qtip so the paint doesn't bleed.

I always brush paint mine, even if I use metalizers.:)

I'd just use a thinned paint applied with a brush. A few light coats will look fine. You don't want the hassle of masking rims! Kinda tricky!

jus brush it on, it's somewhat hard to mask rims, especially those deep ones.

Use one of the available liquid masking agents (most are NOT compatible with water based paints). I use Micro-Sol's. Brush it carfully on the parts you want to remain chrome (the rim portion)and then spray Model Master's NB Brass. Matches the Porsche OEM finish perfectly.

Just brush it on, try to do the edges with a fine brush.
The other more expensive alternative is to try some liquid mask, I have never used this though.
