How to clean '98 Malibu EGR???

Is cleaning an EGR good idea or not? If so, could someone tell me how to clean and EGR on my malibu in step by step detail please? And what benefits would I get with a clean or new EGR valve?

On my last truck, 97 k1500, I kept getting codes for the egr valve sticking when it was really cold out. I tried cleaning it with little success. I used carb cleaner and it didn't really help, that stuff is pretty baked on. If it isn't causing problems, I would leave it alone. If it is causing problems, replace it.

Use fuel injector cleaner and brush. u can also use brake cleaner. work the diaphram while cleaning
