Does anyone know for sure if a 2.0L engine from a 1998 escort will drop right in and bolt up to a 1996 escort that had a 1.9L in it? They are both manual transmissions? :banghead:

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Not that it will make too much of a difference, but it is a 1998 ZX2 that the 2.0L came out of and the 1996 escort is an LX that the 1.9L engine is bad in........dropped a valve seat.

The engine should mount up but you will have to modify a few things. You will probably need to modify the motor mounts too. The ZX engine has a different wiring harness, computer and air intake system. Also the exhaust is different. Make sure you get everything from the donor car not just the engine itself.

The motor and tranny will bolt up just fine, thats the easy part.

The hard part will be replacing the engine harness, computer harness, and entire fuel syetem and every thing connected to the fuel sytem and computer.
