Bought my CRX today

I paid $600.00 today for my CRX. It needs quite a few things done to it, mainly small stuff. I have always wanted a crx and finally got one, but i have kids. Is there any way possible i could get rear seats for my crx?
Here are the things im needing...

Both fenders
Front bumper
rear wiper
all rear intior thats on the floor.
carpet
passenger bottom of door plate
door panels.. mainly drivers

problems...

car was running alittle hot, but i think i know what that is.
on the cluster, speedo doesnt work and the part showing how many miles on the car doesnt work, but everything else does. on the rear view, it seems to have warning light, like seat belt light or something, that doesnt work. it's missing alittle cover on it as well.

thats pretty much all i can think of. the car feels real nice. kinda like a go kart type feel. handling is crazy. inside the car, the muffler echo's baddd!
overall, i love it.

for the speedo not working is it popped out of the tranny cause its cable driven and that operates both speed and the milage....or it might have broke just check it out...first things first get a haynes manual on it so you know everything :p

Havnt checked it really yet, just got fix the running hot prob first them im gonna jump on that. i believe the z3 fenders and all are cheaper, so im probally gonna go with them. didnt really want to, but im kinda on a budget right now. can you give me any info on exactly what i will need for the mini me swap..in detail please. thanks

Couldnt find a hatch for the price i got this crx for.
having some probs with the crx running hot. I think the water pump is goin out. ill be changing that soon. If i cant come up with something for rear seats for the kids, ill probally look for a trade or something.

I'm sure there were some JDM crx's with rear seats. It can be done but there will always be a space issue even if you do. I saw some rear seats for a crx on ebay a month or two ago...even if you do it you would have to fab up the interior cause the back seat has a unique design that was not meant for those extra seats...with the work you already need done to it you might wanna consider passing the crx off and going with the hatch...you can find them just as cheap as any low priced rex. Read the first two paragraphs of this link below..you will see what I mean about the jdm four seater..if you wanna go the 4 seater route, maybe you can do some further research and get some ideas

The JDM crx did have a backseat..unfortunately it pretty much only seats a small child or an asian person lol..

i had them in my rex for 2-3 months. then i got offered $500 for them. well when your short on cash... i sold them. my wife is 5'2 and she could barely fit in the back. they did look cool though.

yeah the seats look cool but thats about it..why would you want to carry your kids in the backseat of a crx anyways lol buy a sedan..your crx doesnt even have airbags cuz its not a family car

yeah true..but when im driving my crx sometimes even i dont feel safe..cant imagine carrying three other ppl in it..two being my children lol

i have fit 5 ppl in the crx before but that was years ago in high school lol and only around the neighborhood development cuz we were too lazy to walk

Even if the JDM CRX had seats in the back, I still wouldn't recommend seating (especially) kids in the back. If you insist tho you have to weld sertain hinges and bolt them down as well to install the rear seats. As for the price on the seats depends how you find them the seats alone go for $200 to a complete back seat install goes $600. These are just price from a while back when I was fixing my rex...sniff i miss mine. good luck.

Sorry i havnt posted any pics or updates on this, i just recently hit my arm where my metal plate is and might be having surgery. (i hope not, im scared)
anyways... tons of wiring problems with my car, ugh.. i dont know where to start. car is still running hot, which i think the water pump went out is why. being i have no carpet in the crx yet, i keep seeing a blinking light, which i believe is a light for the ecu. any way i can check this? (sorry i having bought a book yet)
finally decided to keep my crx and just get accord or something to hall the kids in. im currently looking for a complete harness that is already setup for dpi to mpi. the little car is so fun to drive. it makes me feel like im in one of those little cars that you push forward alot of times, then set it on the floor and it takes off. (yenn yeennnn yennnnnnnn) lmao

Those blinking lights are trouble codes, count the blinks. there will be a pause between multiple codes.

You need to read the FAQ stickies at the top of the forum. You'll learn a lot about the crx...

Sorry, That totally skipped my mind to read that. I went to take pics of my car sunday, but the batteries was dead, and i havnt thought anymore about it. I have good news though... My bro inlaw bought a crx the other day to benefit us both. The crx is an 88/89 hf. It comes with the z6 swap already in it. He only bought it because i need the interior peices, and he needs the motor. He owns a 89 civic hatch, and he'll be throwing that swap into the hatch until his motor gets done. (fully built d16 for boost, going for 250whp)
Once his motor gets built, ill be getting the head. I'll be buying quite a bit of stuff he already has, and stuff off the crx he just bought, which i may add that he only paid 500 for. I'll be getting a tranny and everything to convert my automatic to and manual. I'll also be getting a z6 head,y8 manny & p06 ecu. (which will be converted to a p28.) A friend of mine has a manual 95 mirage and he wanted to race me. Being I have not really seen what my crx can do, i decided to race him. I beat him by about 1 and a half car lengths. not bad. I checked the check engine codes and it showed 16 and 17. Vehicle speed sensor & Injector. My speedo isnt telling my mph, so i know thats it. but how to fix it, i dont know. I dont know what the deal is with the injector, maybe it's just stopped up. My bro inlaw was wanting me to ask you guys if the cluster from that hf will fit in his 89 hatch? ... His doesnt come with a rpm guage, so that's why he's wanting to swap it. If it's too much trouble, i doubt he will attempt it. Also, does the crx stock front lip at the bottom fit on his hatch as well? If anyone needs parts of that HF, let me know because we are trying to get rid of anything we arent using. What is the color of that interior on the HF that he bought? If it's black, I might be interested in buying the Dash panel and center console, lacking gauge panel etc.. no need for anything removable, except the ashtray.

Vents, etc, he can take those all out, just looking to get the colored panels... if he wants to leave them in there, whatever.

why cant the guy just buy an aftermarket tachometer ... you should check out your fueline/injectors because the pen in that injector might not be raising sufficientyl.......good luck on that auto-manual swap im trying to do the same thing to my sterling 827sli(mechanically electronically identical to acura legend)

Code 17 speedo cable fix... just plug the speedo cable back into your transmission and make sure the fastener clip is secure. Reset ECU... pull 15a ECU fuse and 10a Hazard Fuse (red one) from under hood fuse box for 30 seconds.

Code 16 fuel injector fix... get rid of dpfi and replace with mpfi (unless you already have mpfi then check wiring to injectors. The wires are thin and somewhat fliimsy when you move them around after being set in place for many years).

Note that 88-89 and 90-91 tachometers are NOT interchangeable (plug and play) between those sets of years... ie. you can only use a 88 or 89 tach in and 88 or 89 hatch/crx or a 90 or 91 tach in a 90 or 91 hatch/crx.

If you want to just wire up a ricer tach then use the blue wire from the plug that would go to the tach side in your dash (same blue wire from dizzy).

we will do whatever it takes from having to put a aftermarket tach in a car. just my opinion, but it just looks yuck. sorry, dont mean to offend you at all.
turtlecrxsi, thanks for the info. im dpfi, and about to attempt mpfi and probally mini me. ive already got most of the stuff like y8 head, si harness.. only major problem right now is im wondering the exact thing to do with the wiring. my bro's hatch is an 89, and the hf is a 11/88, basiclly an 89. so it should swap over then, correct?

the asian thing was a joke (asians are known to consume large amounts of rice) but hell yea i judge other cars such as almost all american cars..
but i dont think that an aftrmrkt tach is ricey at all, i think its completely sensible..
i thought that ricers were supposed to be all show and no go but some ppl take it to a whole new level....
is your legend modded if so can you give me some tuning tips because i hav a sterling 827sli that is identical to the legend in every way but cosmetic...

i just picked up the legend a few weeks ago..nothin really is done on it besides an upgraded intake manifold and 2.5" straightpipe connected to an apexi n1..but im gonna probly just gonna put a ram air intake on it..if your motor is like mine then its probly prone to overheating..im going to look for some better fans that i could install..other than that im just working on cleaning it up..

1) Where is the vehicle speed sensor?

2) I needed a radiator, so i got one off my bro inlaw 89 hatch that is a manual. my car is an automatic. I know they are different, but how could i make it work?, or is it a no?

p.s.) tried to find the vehicle speed sensor in my haynes manual, but never could find it.

Speed sensor is in the gauge cluster actually. If your looking for the unit that drives the speedo then that is attached to the top of the trans toward the firewall, you should see the cable coming out of it. As far as the radiator, I dont think you could make it work because it has a built in cooler correct? I havent payed much attention to the autos, I may be way off..But I think i remember seeing that in a junkyard. Coolant lines running to the radiator.

You can use the manual car's radiator, just have to add something... it's called a trans cooler... it's another radiator that just kinda straps in place somewhere, usually behind your coolant radiator, that cools the transmission fluid. You can get these from a junk yard, just get the biggest one you can find, and strap it in there.. it really doesn't need to be more than about 4 inches tall by 8 inches wide, and it will work fine. just that bigger = cooler, meaning that your tranny will NEVER overheat. :)

so if i have the speedo code what part should i be trying to fix, the cluster one or the tranny one? anyways thanks for all the help guys. you've been real cool people.

The cluster one, you can pull the cable out of the cluster and not get a speedo code, the car will just think its not moving.. So its the wiring/cluster that you will want to troubleshoot.

Is obd1 dizzy plugs the same as obd2's?
