Chevy Impala 2001

:thinkerg: I installed a remote start alarm on a Chevy Impala 2001, with OEM security built into the keyless entry, plus pass key system.
For remote starting we have to turn off the original alarm by sending a
negative signal to a lt\gn wire on the BCM and bypass the passkey system.
I installed it in 2 Chevy Impalas, same alarm, same installation.
After 14 months one of the cars keyless entry system, BCM, was not functioning and the customer was not able to start the car.
I disconnected the 3 plugs from the BCM, reconnected them, the interior lights came on, except the doorlocks that were not working, and the car started. 15 minutes later the interior lights were off again.
I noticed a sratch and fresh paint at the driver's side keylock.
If the doorlock plunger or the associated wiring goes bad is it possible to short the BCM out?
I will like to note that when the car started everything worked normal except the doorlcks, I checked the fuses and everything was OK.
Every info will help me pinpoint the problem.
I called the GM dealer and the price of the BCM was $180.00.
But will it solve my problem? Thank you
