Polished valve cover!

I need help! Do i need to replace anything if i take of the valve cover to polish it.Like any gaskets or anything. I really need help. If someone could tell me how to do it. I'm new to this. Also i have a 2.4 z24 cavalier. Thanks. My parents won't let me do it unless i can prove it that i can take it off without damage.

You probably won't damage your valve cover, as long as you're careful.. your valve cover gets pretty hot every time you run your car, so sometimes the gaskets want to stick to teh valve covers, and when you try to take them off, they rip. So have a buddy with you, and as you pull off the valve cover(very slowly), have him use a putty knife or something to help loosen the valve cover gasket.:bandit:

Or you could just go buy some RTV silicone gasket stuff in a tube to replace it if it rips.:cool:
