99 blazer rear wiper issues

My rear wiper went out on me in the middle of a big snow storm while I was delivering pizzas one night. I had to push the blade back down off of the window because it wouldn't move. Ever since then there's been a random and consistent ticking noise coming from the hatch that comes out of nowhere sometimes and only stops when I mess with the rear wiper switch on the dash. Sometimes the ticking starts when I unlock the truck. It's a very peculiar issue. Anyone else have this issue and have a solution? Thanks.

Almost sounds like you have an electrical arcing going on. I would take a look back there in the dark and see if you see any sparks.

Thanks, I'll give that a try.

Could be the wiper motor is busted and the mechanism isn't turning off. Try pulling the fuse to the rear wiper or disconnect the switch. If this fixes the problem you probably need a new wiper motor. If it's still busted you probably need a new one anyway.
