Brakes, bleeding etc...

I have a 2000 Silverado. I had a brake line blow out, small pinhole leak, the line that goes to the front passenger tire. I suspect the road wash kept it wet and it rusted through. That line is replaced now. I bled both front brakes after filling it up with fluid after the line replacement, but somebody said they think ABS brakes are bled differently than the older types. I had to unscrew three lines from the proportional valve to get the bad line out. I completely lost all fluid. I haven't bled the back two tires yet.
Also, when the line blew out, I was driving down the road and someone pulled right in front of me. I buried the brake pedal to the floor. the tires never skidded or locked up and the abs pumping sensation never came on. Does this sound like it was operating correctly?
Any input from anyone out there?

There is a procedure for bleeding the ABS system but when I had my pump replaced on my 2000 1500 ext with all of the lines being disconnected all the mechanic did was bleed the brakes RR, LR, RF and LF. And my advice is to get all of your brakes bled, even the front ones again just to make sure...I think you have air in the lines.

If the abs unit gets air in it it requires a tech 2 scan tool to bleed them right.

After I changed the rusty brake line and all the brake fluid was gone, I still didn't get any kind of warning on the message center.

If no brake light or ABS light came on you have a problem with the warning light system.
Another reason to get a good abs capable scanner on it.
Besides getting the system bleed right.
They will help check that to.
