depends on what you're trying to do.
At some point you need to have the pieces welded if you do it yourself... it's usually cheaper to buy a muffler seperate and have an exhaust shop do up the piping.
But most cheap shops use crush bent piping, which isn't that great. It's best to use a shop that uses mandrel bent piping and weld the pieces together to make up the system.

If it's a premade kit, do it yourself. It's a bolt on deal that can be done with jackstands and wrenches (I'd imagine anyways, not sure how the underside of a Scion looks).

If you can weld do it yourself and save some money...or find a friend that can weld and teach you so next time you can do it.

I replaced mine myself, and then ended up taking it to the shop after my work fell apart. Dont use those cheap clamps, get it welded by someone or yourself.

me and a buddy of mine did my cat back. it was a huge pain in the ass cuz all the bolts on my cat were rusted and we had to cut them off with an oxyacetylene torch. but once they were off it was pretty easy, an extra set of hands is helpful. i say do it yourself if you think you can.

You have to learn to do stuff like this at some point, right? Might as well give it a try.

when i was doing mine, the rusted cat bolts were the pita. otherwise, its a pretty easy install.
