Question about Fujimi Ferrari 288 GTO

Who has built this kit? is it worth buying?

Got one in the works right now. It's a high parts count kit but it's the best 288 you can get, beautiful body and overall correctness of the subject.:)

Veyron's right, the Fujimi 288 GTO is excellent, if you've got the time, talent and patience for it you will not be disappointed.

I built the Italeri/Testors kit, and it's not bad. In fact finished it looks really good and fools many people into thinking it's the Fujimi kit.

I've built a 1/24 Fujimi 288GTO a couple of years ago and it was very detailed. There were some slight fit problems, but nothing bad. Pay attention with wheel alignment and turbo plumbing. I also had a problem when I attached the body to the interior/chassis as the meter column of the dashboard and windshield had quite tight tolerance(you can see it in the pictures where the windshield and dashboard touch each other).

I believe the kit hasn't been in production for years, so if you can get yourself one for a reasonable price go get it before someone else does.

The Fujimi 288 is a work of art, they caprtured the look and feel of the car perfectly!
It takes some skill to build, but worth the effort!

I had one of those when I was about 8 years old. I loved that kit, but being so inexperienced-it didn't turn out so well. I just tossed the kit because it wasn't salvageable, but I still have the wheels.

I'd like to be able to find another one of those kits and I've looked everywhere in the Los Angeles area and without any luck. So if you guys are able to find one, grab it! I remember this being a very detailed kit, but the plastic was very thick in some areas and had a bit of flash to clean up.

Guiddy: Actually (if I remember correctly) the engine is pretty much straight from the box with only plug wires and such added. Tells something about the detail level of the kit.

Kodamu: I can't get your link work, but trust me, there is no such thing as 238GTO. If the kit you are talking about looks like one in the pictures me and ZoomZoom sent, then it is a 288GTO.

thanks mel79. After searching the net for the box art, it is the same as the one i am looking at. i guess the photo was not that good so it looked like 238. How does $20 Canadian sound for the kit. good deal?

I think it's a real steal if you can get it for $20CDN(that's about $12?). If it's the enthusiast version and the contents are untouched then you probably can't find it cheaper anywhere. Go for it :)

What are the exact differences between the Fujimi and Italeri releases? I got the Italeri one and overall, I think it's quite good.

of the 1/16 scale version of this kit. Check to make sure it is the 1/24 scale version. The 1/16 scale kit`s tires and wheels, though they have excellent detail, are way out of proportion. I was going to build the kit because it looked like it was excellent quality, until I held the assembled wheels and tires up to the body. I don`t think this kit (or the 1/16 Testorossa I also have) will ever get built.

$12.00 is a steal, go buy it! About a year ago, I accidentally found three Fujimi 288GTO kits, correcting dust at a store, for $35.00 each, and I sold them for $80.00 each. I still have one of each yellow and red version, that I bought before Fujimi had to stopped its production.

I picked up two kits for about £13 too! Unfortunately one is started and I wouldn't sell the other one!
I also picked up some photoetched badges for them!

I still remember the first time I saw the GTO was on tv. It was racing in Macau. The forst Ferrari I payed attention to.

i have 2 fujimi 288 GTO, the first bought for about 20 dollars in Germany,... the second bought on ebay for 5 Euro that means about 4 dollars!!!!!!!!!!!
More, it happened that the seller had to come to my city (Florence, Italy), so i had not to pay any shpping cost or bank charges for the payment!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And the kit is untouched inside.....

I have also 2 Italeri kits of this car (one is built and one is going to be completed using the Pioneer decals from a Bburago diecast kit) and i can tell that this is a very nice model although you must pay attention to some fitting problems first of all the wheels that have to be corrected to fit properly inside the wheel arches. I have also changed the tires with Fujimi P7 wide&wider, and lowered the body by sanding the whole clear part that simulate the glasses. For sure Fujimi is much more detailed with also the front hood openable and has correct diameter wheels, but what a hard work on it!
