another brake question

I had some work done last week on the 'nator. Rear pads, calipers, and rotor on the right side. The brakes were bled, but I'm still noticing a large amount of travel in the pedal. In order to stop, it's gotta go almost to the floor. Do my brakes need to be bled again, or will they get stiffer with time?

sounds like the master cylinder may be bad ...

Make sure you are getting good application of both rear calipers also, check spinning the wheels off the ground, also make sure both calipers hold with the parking brake.

pedal near the floor. my 98 lumina (base) had a brake job about 20,000 miles ago and the pedal has been going far down from the get go. also the parking brake pushed way down near the floor. i recently brought it back to the same shop to have the rear adjustment checked as advised by this forum. the guys sold me a new front brake job. then i asked them again to check rear adjustment. they did. now both pedal,s feel great . and the stopping distance is greatly improved. i,m hoping they didn,t over adjust. i,m getting 30 mpg on the highway doing 70mph with the a/c on so i guess all is well. good luck.

Did you bleed them? If you're still getting dirty fluid out keep going. I did mine after a brake job (major travel) and I didn't get all the dirty fluid out.Worked great. Did it again, got a bit mroe of the dirty fluid out, better yet. I did a half assed job I suppose because it still pukes dirty fluid, but we're talking I did it 15+ pumps a tire.

I'll try re-bleeding them to see if more dirty fluid comes out, then I guess I'll have to refill the master cylinder. Hopefullly that's the problem. thanks
