Hoods and Engines?

Alright I have seen them, but can not find one:banghead: . I am looking for a cowl induction hood for my 88 Caprice and have failed.....anyone who can help PLEASE DO.
Next I am considering changing my feedback 305 to a swap with a 88 camaro TPI 305 .....any suggestions would be invaluable!!!!The tranny has been set up with a B&M valve body/shift kit, the exhuast is open 3" custom to the cat, and up graded the tires rims and suspension( variable 4" air adjustable for street strip).

That TPI 305 will give you the power and torque of a 350, great swap to keep it economical.

What transmission do you have? TH2004R or 4L60(TH700R4)?

For the cowl hood, I've not personally ever seen one for that car, but you can modify a hood yourself if you're so inclined.

I have a rebuilt 700r4 that I built up for solid shifts and a little more power. The next thing to to is redo the rear end to 3.42:1 heavy to handle the power coming down( I hear tale of the 3.07 rears shattering over any major power increases).

The 3.08 gears will be great. Make sure, though, that you have an 8.5" rear axle.

I smell a mechanic silicon.......... say how would you "make" a cowl hood without a sheet metal master? The only parts that I could find to modify the hood are PLASTIC, I will never cheapen my baby that way. Any help would be great, and thanks for responding.

If you can smell a mechanic, then he ain't showering!

Anyways, you can fabricate a hood yourself if you have the wherewithall to do it. Depends on what you want to do.

As for what I am sure is the comment about my 3.08 remark above, factor in that is exactly what I am running - with a mildly potent 350, not a 305. My engine specs higher all around than a 305 TPI does (which specs on par with a factory 350 TBI). Then again, my car has the police package so it's a bit more robust than a garden variety Caprice - but then my old '72 Impala had a 7.5" 2.56 gear axle and it lived many years behind the 350 in the car, so these rear axles are a bit more robust than you give them credit for.

Two blown out knees latter metal work I am afraid is outside my "abilities" however I do need a shower LOL. Seriously though I think I will start will a junkyard hood and see what can be done.thanks for the info on the rear, I thought the caprice for 88 had a 307 rear end .......of course that is what I could find, and lets face it sometimes what you find is not right.....

I am assuming that you are reffering to the impala as a crossover part for my 88 caprice? At any rate this will shave wieght and give the clearance that I so desparately need to vent underhood heat......lets face it with that tight over clearance to the engine there is alot of trapped heat no one wants!

If you go to their 77-96 Impala section, they list a hood for the 80-90 cars. Impala/Caprice what ever they want to call it, it will fit.
