The van has approximately 188K on it (the motor was replaced at some point in time before we bought it). It's my beater for running back and forth to work (paid $400 for it a couple of years ago).

Was on my way to work, turned a corner and the van stopped running and hasn't started again since. When it died it just shut off, it didn't stumble or run rough beforehand. Fortunately I was only a couple blocks from home so it wasn't too much work to push it home.

It cranks but doesn't try to start. Not much of a gas smell even if you hold the pedal to the floor. Fuel pump relay is good. Other odd thing is there is a loud ticking noise coming from the coil/distributor or somewhere in the area (ignition on). The coil is putting out juice (ask me how I know :icon16: ). I would guess fuel pump. Any other ideas? Also does anyone have an idea how many book hours it would be to get a fuel pump replaced? That seems like a bit more than I'd want to tackle.

try changing the fuel filter first, had you run it low on gas or just recently filled it up?

Well, finally drug it to the mechanic. Verdict was a broken Timing Belt. Given the realities of its age and condition we junked it.
