Hi guys, im having some issues with aluminum foil. I need to know if there is any kind of glue that will work with aluminum foil. I know that microsol has one but i dont have any at the moment. Will elmers glue work?? Or will i be forced to buy the microsol? Thanks for the help.

You will be forced to buy the microscale stuff (http://www.microscale.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=MI-8&Category_Code=FINPROD&Product_Count=7), and beaten if you resist.
Just get some. It's great stuff, and more than worth the trouble of finding.

I've got another question, with the microscale foil adhesive is it actually possible to apply foil to exhaust systems?

Of course it's possible.
Whether or not it would look good would depend on what you're trying to do and your skill.
Personally I think there are a number of easier ways to get a more realisic looking finish for exhausts than aluminum foil.

Andy, how exactly does this adhesive work? How is it different from other glues?
I believe that it is, but I just cant figure out wny/how it is different from white glue for example.
Care to review it a bit deeper?...Please?...Pretty please.... :D

Well, it's just- sticky.
It looks and smells very much like white glue, but it's intended to be brushed on in a thin layer and allowed to dry- takes a minute or so if you've applied it thin enough. And when it's dry, it remains really really sticky. Think BMF, just much stickier. White glue when applied similarly is tacky at very best. While it's likely they're rather similar chemicaly, they behave very different.

Thanks. Sounds a bit like a contact adhesive or something.

I have used Spray on contact adhesives and they work very well. I spray the back of the foil, let dry a minute then apply foil. Elmers make some that is available at Craft stores.

I used that microscale product last night and the night before. IMO it works very well. When you compare it to Elmer's glue the thickness of the glue is very noticable. Elmer's is very thick (think honey for pancakes and french toast:p Yum Yum) and Microscale is very watery like which is easy to brush and spread around the foil. It's white but when it dries it turns clear. Last night the thought of using it to glue clear parts crossed my mind. It is very sticky but yet, if you are careful, you can still peel it off to make corrections. You also have to watch out how much you brush onto the foil. Too much of this adhesive gathered in one area can be noticable when you apply the foil. For example, last night I brushed some on and small puddles of the adhesive gathered on some parts of the foil. It dried, cleared and I thought went away; however, when I applied the foil I noticed the bumps where the adhesive had gathered and dried. So to avoid this you'd have to brush small, even amounts and make sure puddles dont gather. Ill try to post what I did these past two days but please be easy on the comments of the picture quality cause im going to try doing this with my cellphone camera.

I did the edges and trim of the car using Microscale to give the foil more adhesive.
