moderator

how do you become a moderator? Just wondering

Currently we have no openings, in fact we have an excess of moderators. So how does one go about becoming a moderator? Right now, they don't.

I have no idea, I think the mods ask people when they need em. Personally I think I would be a good moderator cause im on here a lot, but ami (ladynredsi) thinks otherwise, so ive decided to stop trying.

We have lots of members who'd be good moderators, it's just that as the old saying goes, too many cooks spoil the broth.

:rolleyes: whatever melt. now why should you be a moderator (who has been here 6 mos) over someone like travis who has been with us 3 years. i can think of 15 members off the top of my head that have been waiting that long. damn i even had to wait almost a year to be a mod and i own the site this forum is for!!!

yea I was curious about how that worked too. I kinda figured from T-man saying in a thread once that U guys were picking new moderator's that you all voted on it. :cool:

Sometimes that's true, sometimes Igor just makes the decision, it all depends.

I got carried over from when the 4th gen hostboard forum merged with the af 88-91 civic/crx forum. And yeah being a mod is played a bit. ;)

What is the big deal with being a moderator? :confused:
I just like coming here and hanging out with my 4th gen buddies and talking about my car.
I don't really want the responsibility of policing the forums :silly2:

you just need to look around. i replied to a bunch of stuff last night. my cousin and i grew up like sis. when i moved up here she moved off to england. she was here visiting...hadn't seen her in like 3 years.

But I assume by "being with us" you are probably counting in PH and hostboard, niether of which I was a part of.

and yahoo board. he (and some others) have been with 4thgenerationcivic.com since it has been together...hung in when we moved forums....and stuck around even when HB was down for weeks. post number doesn't mean anything. sticking around for years...through good and bad is what counts in my books.

well, the eclipse isn't gone yet. just sitting in the garage in pieces. and the neon thing fell through so i have my eye out for a few other things. but i'll wait see.

I'm gonna have to side with Ami on this one. Theres a bunch of people that I think would be good moderators on this forum, but the fact of the matter is that they are not needed, and ultimately, it's up to Igor or the other mods to make the decision, not your post count or your enthusiasm.

I agree with that... just cause someone has a buncha ppost doenst mean they can be a mod. I mean look at kicker :) he has like 10000 posts.

Yeah but one dumbass cook can really fuck up dinner if youre hungry... And I also dont agree with AMI that you should be here for awhile to become a mod. Someone could come on here and blow all the mods we have now away in knowledge of cars, but they still wouldnt be a moderator. A moderator to me is kinda like the fucking security camera over my shoulder at my work. There in case I do something that someone else doesnt like.

Anyways i thought its all about knowledge to become a mod not how long you've been here? Weird...

personally, I dont think a mod needs to know shit about cars..it really just needs to be someone who frequents the board...they're not really there to provide technical information (although that is nice), just have to police the board and be interested enough in the topics to go through the posts.....so I guess if someone's been around awhile, that kind of proves that they're going to continue to be around (usually)....that's my opinion....

I think eric should've kept this a secret...I'm afraid ami is going to be inundated with pm's and emails..lol..good luck with that ;)

I dunno, just would be kinda cool. I aint tripping about it too much though, I am all talk. ci5ic would probably make a better mod than me but I dont think he wants to do it.

Plus I think it would be cool to be a mod cause im here all the time, but whatever, kicker1_solo isnt a mod (although a large part of his post count probably was imported from PH)

i would love to be a moderator, but its not really a big deal to me, i could take it or leave it (but i'd prolly take it) haha
