hey, i got a question about the power antenna...

my antenna goes up and down the problem is that i GRINDS when it reaches the top... like the motor just keeps going, attempting to push the antenna up, but its all the way up alraedy and it grinds for like 15 seconds...

so... do i replace the whole thing or just buy another antenna mast???

:icon16:

p.s. - sometimes the antenna DOESNT go up and down i have to initially push it and then it catches and goes.... i assume the motor is fine and that the antenna mast is bad... what is it?

The antenna has a nylon type cable that the motor pushes and pulls to raise and lower it. It similar to a cable clamp. If you remove the top ring on the antenna base, turn the radio on and pull on the antenna mast as it goes up you will be able to remove it. I bought a replacement at pep boys for about $20.00. A Haynes manual explains how to do this repair.
