91 Sonoma temp guage not working

My 91 Sonoma w/2.5 4 cyl Temp guage does not work. Engine was swapped out and guage did not work after I got truck back. Changed temp sensor down at thermostat housing but to no avail, dash guage still not registering. Temp sensor must be working because i get no error code. Is there perhaps another sending unit that works the dash guage?
