Moon roof project

06-16-2007, 12:18 PM
Started to work on the moonroof that was duct taped shut from the previous
owner. Appeared to be stuck in vent position.

Removed glass with no problem and cleaned tape residue of glass and roof.
Used a product called Goof Off and it didnt harm glass or paint. Accually did a nice job on removing oxidation from aluminum trim also.

Tested for current at switch (which has a open close and vent switch not the toggle). Nothing. As there was another switch in the glove box im thinking it was already swapped with no luck. I followed the wire back to
the relay.

No colors on any component is the same as the manual so its more frustrating than it should be.

Anyway I have power at The orange wire coming into the relay and thats it.

Took the motor out and tested it separate. It turned both ways by switching
direction of current.

Anyway current comes in orage wire at relay but no power coming out of relay to switch. I know there is a switch somewhere that tells top to stop when closed but i cant see that keeping the motor from running.

If it were stuck in the closed position the motor would run when the open button is pushed and vise versa wouldnt it?

regardless wouldn't there be current at one point coming into the switch.?

I want to say the relay is bad. It appears that the switch gets its power thru the relay unlike the diagram?

Any suggestion ? Thanks
