I replaced the blower motor resistor in my 2003 grand am 3.4L about 2 yrs ago. After replacing the resistor the blower motor worked great! This year during the winter when turned to speed 4 or 5 it started to get a nasty vibration come off of the blower. Now that it is summer and the A.C is turned on we can keep it at 3 and it is comfortable, but once it has been on for a while it starts to lose its blowing power(loss of blowing power sux!)to the point even on 4 or 5 it is still too hot in the car. Not because the AC isnt working but because its not pushing enough air.
do you think I have to replace the blower motor...I would hate to do that and that isnt it!

Sounds like you might have had a visitor living in the blower. The blower has to come out for you to check this, and it definately sounds like the blower is bad.

I would at least pull the motor and see if anythings livin in there. Make sure the fan is attached to the motors shaft properly, they can come loose.

beauty got rid of the vibration..there was beans in my fan. But it still loses power when it has been on for like 15 mins...the fan still sounds like the rpms are the same but its not coming out of the vents as hard.I can crank it up to 5 and the fan is screaming but only a little comes out...when the blower was out I checked the fan and it was on really tight

Also check that thier not something else keepng the air from flowing through the duct work.
The dash vents all use a tube system to deliever air, if they are loose(they can pop off) it can slow the air down.

Lastly it could the mix door is not working properly(beans could be traped there) or your refrigrent is not properly charged. :dunno:

See the tips and maintence (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?f=2148) section.

Sorry I dont know alot about grand ams..is the mix door up inside the dash on the passenger side?..and refrigerant how does that effect with how hard the air blows?..I am just wondering because I did put 1 can of duracool in the system..It ended up blowing really cold air then about 2-3weeks later it still blew really cold air just after 15-30 mins it does the problem!

No the mix door is in the center area of the HVAC unit.
If you have the glove box out have another look at the tubes that goto the vent and make sure they are connected fully.

Also if thiers to much refrigerant it could freeze the condensor coil in the cabin where the air blows .

Hope that helps.

xeroinfinity you are the MAN/woman....I haven`t checked it out yet but I can pretty much tell you it is more likely too much duracool in it..makes sense to me...I will post once I have had time to let some out...I read alot of things that people have wrong with thier cars on here and have only been able to help once or twice...but you I see in every thread...you should be in a autoforum or something! lol thanks again!
