I bought a 2003 Vue in Oct 03. I now have 100192 miles on it and my 2nd transmission just died. In May 06 the dealership replaced my VTI transmission with a new one and gave me a 12 month/12000 mile warranty...on a new transmission!!! Well 13 months and 25000 miles later the belt inside broke. The dealer is telling me that it is out of warranty and that I will have to pay $5500 to replace the tranmission. Does anyone out there think that is right!!!!!!?????? :banghead: If they replaced it with a "new" transmission than why doesn't it have the parts warranty of 5 years and 75000 miles??

This is the 4th time I have had to take it in for a transmission problem since Oct 03. Has anyone out there had the same type of problem with thier VTI transmission?

Any help is GREATLY appreciated.

the CVT trans is a great idea, its just not practical, its too weak to take any real torque. saturn trashed the option after a few years and offered and extended warrenty until 75K because of its downfalls. i don't if or how the warrenty applys to transmissions already replaced. you can try calling saturn corp. or a different dealership. but with an 100K mile truck, honestly your odds aren't very good.

Were you aware that there are TWO class-action lawsuits against Saturn specifically over the vTi? One in the US and one in Canada.

I went through precisely the same thing in my '03 Vue. After the fourth replacement, I decided to cut my losses and get rid of it. Replacements for out-of-warranty vehicles will cost the owner over $7000. I had 15K left on my extended warranty. I was not about to fork out that kind of money and time for a vehicle they KNOW is defective and keep shoveling the same trash into it without improving or fixing it so it is reliable.

Granted the engine was running GREAT. But, that means squat when you're driving a timebomb.

run a carfax on your car and see if he put it in there. if it don't show up i think maybe your being took for a ride..

I too am having transmission issues with my 2003 Saturn Vue. It's a real shame... I bought this as my daughter's first car (Purchased used with only 46,000 mile) & she's heartbroken that it is out of commission. The dealer is still trying to "Diagnose" the problem, but this is the second time they've had it, and it seems they are trying to put me off, or blame the issue on something else. The tranny just disengages after driving it for 15 min or so.... I can't believe that GM would allow Saturn's brand to be dragged through the mud like this without an official recall. After most of the postings I've read, and the experience to date dealing with this issue, Saturn will never be my choice for future vehicle purchases.

In the mean time I have to fight the fight and try to get the car back in working order so I can get rid of it (If I can find anyone that will take it)
