Hi, I own a 97 GP GT, 3.8, 118,500 and I'm wondering what the normal/correct PSI is for our air conditioning R-134a. I did a pressure test on the low side service port and it was between 26 and 28 PSI. Is this in the correct range? Thanks in advance for any input.

Paul, for a proper reading on the refrigerant charge it depends on the ambient temperature. The psi reading you are getting may be normal. For example in my area of the country based on the current temperature it would be low. PM me and I think I have a FSM A/C chart in PDF file format with the cross reference charts.

The hotter it is outside, the colder the ac is going to get and the higher its pressure is going to be. When its hot, check the pressure and it should be at 30psi on the low side.

Thanks Chevy. Yea I hooked it up again last Sat when it was 90 degrees and noticed the pressure was up around 30 to 33.
