Help! Keyless Entry programing for 99 Cougar

I just bought a 99 Cougar recently that has keyless entry programmed in the system, yet my car was sold to me with only one remote (the handle of the key fob is broken). So I bought two remotes off of ebay, which aren't the same model as my remote (seems like Ford created a later general remote for their vehicles). I have been having no luck programming it, and my mechanic said it won't work since its not the same remote (yet the programming guide has it listed to work with my car). My car also has a security system installed as the car will not start unless the car is opened with the key fob. I have been trying to use method M on Ford's programming sheet, which is to turn the car from off to on 4 times in 4-6 sec to activate the programming mode. My current remote's FCC ID is GOH-3BFM2497 and the two I just bought are FCC ID CWTWB1U331. I was wondering if anyone had any tips on what I'm doing wrong or will these remotes just not work with my car.

Thanks,
Allison

You need FCC: CWTWB1U322 for the 99 Cougar.

Hi,
Thanks for your response, but I'm a little confused. I did a search for FCC: CWTWB1U322 and it is for a Jaguar, not a Ford car.

Wrong remote. They both share the same FCC number (Ford owns Jaguar, remember?) but the Jaguar remote will have the Jaguar head emblem on the front.

The Ford remote just has 4 buttons....
