line drivers

hi, most of the dvd players that i have seen that are within my price range ($600) are roughly around 2 volts for the preamps. and i was wondering if i getting a line driver like this can help.http://www.cardomain.com/item/PHOTLD22

if you have noise issues yes. if not, just turn the gain up.

what dvd players are you looking at ? If you get the Alpine 9861 and the pxa-h701, then you can run a fiber optic cable between them and be done with it. A line output booster is a band-aid at best.

the way your RCA's work is like this:
when your volume is high, your head unit will send up to a 5-Volt signal, (+/- 3Volts), via your RCA cables to your amplifiers...
when your volume is lower, the size of the signal sent to your amplifiers will decrease down to 500 milivolts, (+/- 300 milivolts)...

here's the problem:
electricity can travel through the air in the form of magnetic waves, and when electricity transfer from one wire to another through magnetism we call it induction.
if stray voltages are induced into your RCA wires on their way to your amplifier, the signal that arrives at your amplifier will be different from the signal that left your
head unit. we call the difference in the signal distortion and noise, (among other things), or we'll just say that the signal is distorted. when your amplifier recieves the
signals, it's going to amplify everything sent down the RCA cables including the noise.

so to help you figure out if it's what you need, (or anyone else reading this post) let me give you a real world scenerio
your HU sends out a 2 volt signal,
you route it and boost it thru a line driver to a 8 volt signal
the 8 volt signal is whats sent to your amplifier,
on the way it picks up some induced voltages, (lets say .5 volts)
now when you get to the other end, you'll have an 8.5 volt signal, (8v of signal and .5v of noise)
so now when you reduce the signal back to the original size of 2v, you'll get rid of the added 6v of signal along with the extra .5v of noise

It's a good way of getting rid of noise problems, if you have 'em...

i basically am looking for one that has atleast 4v preamp, beable to connect a tv tuner to it, some type on auto time correction thing, and if possable 5.1 already buit inside of it, see i can get all of them but the volt one. plus i would like to be able to *caugh*bypass*caugh* the no dvd while driving *unCaugh*

if i can't decide i might go with just a regular head unit, and that one is this one : pioneer DEH-P880PRS

can i take all that other stuff back and just post about what dvd players you want...

UPDATE: i e-mailed pioneer and they said they will fix it and all i have to pay for is shipping.
