So I have my beautiful eclipes gs. With its huge 2l engine. So is there an engine that will be more powerful with more upgrades out there that I can swap it with? Im new to this site and Im not sure if I can do anthing with that motor. But I figure I can ask you all and get better answers than surfing around. Any help would be great and info is always a plus. Thanks for reading it. Im a little disapointed with the power it has and want more out of it.

Anything you try to put in your GS is going to cost you a bunch of money. You can do upgrades and whatnot, but unless you really feel like spending money you won't get much outa that either.
I would suggest you get a cold air intake first, and then a header/2.5" exhaust. That will get you a little more power for pretty cheap.

Yeah...unless you want to spend the price of a new car on doing the motor swap its not really worth it. I would just do what he said and get an intake and exhaust for that extra little power.

Well i have another thread open on that subject but short version it over heated, when they started it up big cloud of blue smoke came out and he said i damaged my engine, 1800 miles and it still going with little to no smoke, it smokes some days. Just as a side note to all to give a better idea of what the car is worth to me....it's my dream car i love them to death and have no problem fixing them with time and money, yes in time there can be there can be enough money. the next question would be do i have to move motor mounts for the turbo engine for my gs or can i just bolt it in. Wiring harness and other parts will have to be upgraded i know but will the new motor fit in the stock mounts.thank you for all your input.

No no you dont put a turbo motor in your car. You turbo the motor thats in there now.

:1: for boosted 420A... get a 14b turbo, the seem to work nicely... actually, i have a spare T25 just sitting here... PM me if your interested and i can elaborate on its condition... ;)

Yea turboing the 420a is whats up. But still she needs another engine. So I guess shes saying that if shes going to have to change engines anyway, why not just swap in a boosted 4G63T. Personally I think if money is of no concern then she should do the 4g63t turbo engine swap. And yes you would have to change motor mounts. And I'm sure you will have to swap your transmission too. I'm not too much help with the issue of 420A to 4G63t swaps since I don't know too much about it.

A 4g63 swap is doable, but you need more than mounts, motor, and tranny. You'll need the complete engine wiring harness, axles, ecu, gauge cluster, and not to mention all of the metal fabrication involved just to make everything fit correctly. IMO, it's not worth it for just a DD.

Only thing, Ashley, is be sure you know what you are getting into and do it right the first time. A good, reliable turbo setup is not exactly an easy thing to do and under no circumstances should your average run-of-the-mill mechanic would have no idea where to start. I would definately do a turbo 420a instead of a 4g63 swap, that would be a lot harded than just turboing the 420a. Anywho, good luck.

yea heres my two cents
rebuild the 420A and get your bottom end done with some nice pistons and rods and everything you need then you can throw a nice sized turbo on it and boom your off and running.

well thor your right i haven't built an eclipse for the ground up, but thats the next project, the project that i'm currently on is building a four wheeling truck from just a frame...so i wouldn't say i'm shooting to far but yes i'm still learning, i still have so much to learn, also why i'm asking questions...just out of curiousity how big is the 4g63? and how much bigger than my engine is it?once again that you all for your input it really helps a lot!

The 4g63 is about the same physical size, just alot stronger built.
Silvr, that wtf was supposed to be a joke cause you said "what I joke"
