Hi, anyone out there have any suggestions on how to remember to buckle up. There is no warning device installed in my 96 ranger, except for the dash board light thats on only for a minute,.. I need a better reminder... example a chime, or a buzzer, or truck disabled to start untill buckled up. any sugestions on how to make these plans work, or any better IDEA's! Thanks Brent

In most vehicles, when one buckles up, a visual signal and alarm go on after you turn the ignition on. The side slot (where you slip the belt into) has a normally closed switch which when you turn the ignition, the icon on the dash come on and the alarm turns on, The alarm times out but the icon remains until you buckle up. Are you sure you have to audio alarm device for the seatbelt in you truck? That was a DOT safety requirement which had been in effect for awhile. I had a 94 Ranger which had the alarm.

seat belt use is a habit, when you see the light immediately put the belt on. Try to start thinking seat belt use before you ever put it in gear. Good luck if you get this habit right it could save your life and a ticket

I think you're talking about rigging up some kind of alarm that only goes out when you plug in your seatbelt, right? Why go through the expense and time to do that? Put a card or something on the steering wheel reminding you to buckle up -- tape and paper and a bit of ink and you should be golden. The only way you'll really remember, though, is to get into the habit of getting in, sitting down, buckling up, then starting the truck.

I'm glad to hear you're thinking safe, though. I don't let anyone ride in my car or truck without buckling up first. Better the belt than the $50 or $100 ticket you'd get otherwise, right? :)

yes I agree, theres no reason to go through all that work with the bell and every thing you would have to rig up, you just have to get in the habit of when u get in the truck the first thing you do is buckle up.
