I have a stock(for now) 96 Maxima 5speed and I was wondering if I could beat all the stock eclipses and talons running around my town with their stock turbos.:sun:

I dont think you would beat one I raced one in my 99 max 5spd It was a talon tsi and he pulled away from me in 3rd gear.

Was the Talon TSI you raced all stock or did it have maybe a bigger turbo or any modifications done to the turbo?

the gst eclipses aren't fast. the gsx's are you should smoke a gst and a gsx should be a good race

Actually, the Eclipse GS-T's are fast...they have the exact same turbo engine as the GSX, only the T's are convertibles, which means they'll be a little slower due to extra weight.

no the spider is the convertible
you can get a gst or gsx spider
the gst is front wheel drive and the gsx is awd. my friend had a 1999 plymouth laser which is the same car as the talon tsi and gst eclipse. i beat him every time we raced. i have never beaten a gsx but i never raced one that was stock

P is absolutely correct U can beat a spida or gst<def front wheel drive, 1 of my friendz haz a gst & da first Xm we raced he wuz shocked dat I put da smakdown on him like dat.
I haven't dueled wit a gsx yet, but dat all wheel drive duz a hell of a job>no wheelspin & all powa 2 da ground.

Max>lotza wheelspin if u overrev clutch or auto>less power 2 da ground, but dude go 'head & race him U got a max & it wood B awesum 2 rub it N hiz face when u spank dat ace.:alien:

Yeah, you guys are right that the GS-T doesn't have awd...my bad. But i'm pretty sure you can't get a GSX spyder, only a GSX hatchback. Anyways, yeah, it should be a good duel with a GSX...

Acceleration is equal to the HP applied divided by the weight of the car,
(f=ma, remember Sir Isaac Newton?)
if your max is stock fwd, how many hp is that? (I only know the vg30e in my wifes 200 SX SE is 165)
A stock turbo awd talon TSi puts out 190hp, { for $2k, you can get 300hp and not decrease the reliability of the motor.400-500 hp is not uncommon, you can get 800 hp, (yes, eight hundred), motor & turbo from magnusmotorsports .com for $3k}
,the car is lighter and smaller, the engine is sustantially lighter.. awd gets more power to the road.. when you spin, slide or screechl your tires, you are losing traction and decreasing your ablity to accelerate, turn and brake.
choose your talon/laser/eclipse opponents well, You might beat one the street and you might not, but where you beat the talon everytime is long term reliability and far fewer expensive repairs.

Yeah, that equation is correct, but remember, as with most mathematical equations, they only function 100% correctly in the theoretical world, and street racing is far from that.

very, very far I would say.the diffrences in driver skill alone can make all the difference, there are many variables, was it Jefferson that said "there are lies, damn lies and statistics"? My version is "there are lies, damn lies and statisistics & specifidations".
