Towing with Taurus??

Anyone know the towing capacity of a 2001 Taurus w/ Vulcan??

less then what the factory says. the engine can handle towing. but the transmissions are a weak point in Tauruses. if you plan on doing any towing add a top of the line tranny cooler and make sure the servicing on the tranny is up to date ie the all the fluid changed as well as the filter.

I know all that. I am wondering what the factory says what the towing capacity is.

If you go to the Ford website, search for parts, that screen has a link for owner's manuals that go back to 1996. It says in the 97 Taurus manual that a vulcan engine with the car having two passengers and no other gear/passengers can tow a max of 500 lbs. More passengers or weight in the car lowers the tow capacity. A duratec motor is listed with a max 795 lbs.
