Exhaust on a small engine

Has anyone ever put a glasspack muffler on a 2.2l GM engine? (or a similar size) My muffler got torn off due to a broken hanger and a big chunk of concrete. The car's just my work car, and I don't want to spend more on it than I have to. With no muffler it sounds like one of those "fart trumpet" "mufflers" the street racer crowd uses. Will a glasspack eliminate that annoying tinny weed whacker sound?
