Xbox. What sane person would buy one?

Honestly, who would pay for an Xbox over a PS2 simply because the on the Xbox you can save cd's. When i asked one of my friends why he bought it over the PS2, he said, and i quote "dude, i can like save all kinds of songs to it and listen to them while im playing my game" im sorry, thats just stupid. i can do that with my cds and stereo system. Sure there are some games on the Xbox that arent on the PS2, but im not going to cry myself to sleep because i dont have them. Ive had loads of fun playing games on my regular playstation, and at least i know that ive got something good in the PS2, whereas the main reason people buy the Xbox so im told, is because it has a hard drive. what a waste. oh yeah, did i mention that i think bill gates is satan? but thats just my opinion so who really cares. anyways, thats my thoughts, anyone else got one?

Both systems are expandable, and both have many peripheral systems coming online soon.

(I just hope the PS2 stuff is better, cuz that's what I have... ;))

cause xbox is same price as ps2 and comes with 2 packin games (sega gt 2002 and jetset radio future)

the fact that it comes with 2 games means nothing, PS2 now has a game package too, and it comes with GT3, which in my opinion is better than sega GT2002 anyways, besides, microsoft doesnt have a greatest hits do they? thats when different games have sold certain amount and sony lowers their price to $19.99 apiece, not to mention you have to buy a 30 dollar remote for your Xbox just to get the DVD player to work, that just seems stupid to me seeing as PS2 you can use your controller.

Come on man! I have been shopping for one of these since they came out. I love PS2...but...the XBOX has taken the lead. Most all my friends have one, you can link them and play bad ass games like socom, madden, Halo...etc.! XBOX live! Plus I know a guy who has a program where he will put every game on the hard drive, plus a burn program, so when a new game comes out, all you have to do is rent it put it in and it burns it to the hard drive. PLUS, added all these emulators, so I can play every game made for NES, SNES, Sega, Sega CD, Neo Geo, Atari, and all those old arcade games like Ninja tutles, and the Simpsons! And then you ask the question "Who would pay for an XBOX over a PS2?"!

i really dont care if it can do all that stuff that you listed, it all comes down to money too. Besides, they have online gaming for PS2 as well, they have SOCOM on PS2. is that not one of the games you mentioned? i can play online as well so don't tell me that the Xbox is special because of that. im sure the Xbox is a good gaming machine, i guess one of the real reasons that im so against it is because its made by microsoft. I said in an earlier post that I was sure that the XBox was a good game machine, I just happen to have my opinions and you happen to have yours. an Xbox Nazi? kinda harsh don't you think? it would be different if i was saying Destroy all the xboxs' on earth, but thats not the case.

I bought one. But only because that's what my fiancee wanted for his b-day. He and his friends plug 4 together with 4 tvs and play 16-player Halo. But that's about all I know about the thing. I prefer to play Zoo Tycoon myself.

Well as far as I know the Xbox has a faster chip, more memory, and since it also has a hdd drive now worries with messing around with memory cards.
The only down side I can see to it as a system is you have to buy a seperate remote to watch DVDs.


As a piece of technology I think its better than a PS2.
But thats it.
The PS2 simply has a far far better selection of games, and considering MS insistance on doing everything in house, and keeping the code for the Xbox secret it always will.
I dont want a game machine that has the best technology, I want a game machine that plays the best games.
Ok the Xbox has Halo and Sega GT, but the PS2 has TimeSplitters and GT3 Aspec. Not to mention a list of games so long I dont even know 10% of them.

Why can you only pick xbox or only pick playstation2, what if you have both?

its which one you prefer as opposed to the other, even though you might have both, more than likely one of the two gets more attention. such as when N64 first came out, i had that and i had a PS1, even though the N64 had some good games and i liked it, i still played my PS1 more. make sense?

PS2 kicks a$$. The only reason sane people buy one is that you can save cds on it, and that's about it. Sony also has a lot of talent in other fields of technology. PS3 should have surround sound.

XBox doesn't have enough good games that are unique for the system. No Final Fantasy, and actually no real roleplaying games. Halo's great, but can't be the only game.

The problem with the XBox lies in it being nothing more than an outdated PC- FOR EXAMPLE- the 700 mhz Processor may SOUND impressive compared to the 150 mhz of the PS2- BUT the PS2 has a 128 bit processor compared to XBOX's 32 bit processor- meaning in reality there is little difference between them in speed.

The XBox has the edge in graphics- but Graphics are unimportant- I want a game I can get hooked on and will keep me coming back for more- not to mention the fact that PS2 has a FAR bigger range of games.

The Hard Drive of the XBox does seem to give it an advantage- but Linux have come out with a Hard Drive, Keyboard and Mouse for the PS2- and we all know how much of a better OS Linux is than Microsoft.

all in all I see no reason to get an XBox- the graphics may be good and the controller comfortable- but otherwise there is no advantage whatsoever to the XBox

i'd prefer a playstation 2 for the simply fact that you can play all the older games.....that is the biggest plus for the ps2 and more games and its resale.....also more companies are more likely to make more games for the ps2 b/c of it popularity and record.....plus it looks better than the x box, and the controller for the ps2 is a lot ...a whole lot better

i have both the graphics are sooooooo much better on the XBOX

the only reason i have a PS2 is for final fantasy X ,Way of the Samurai and Tokyo Extreme Racer.

Any games which are on both systems. The Xbox wins hands down. better graphics and record discs to hard disc means listening to initial D music whilst playing Project Gotham

teh ps2 is nothing to look at either the vertical stand makes it look much better but horizontally it just looks plain nasty and i'm sick of having to buy different memory cards for PS games cuz teh PS2 ones don't work with it. IT SUCKS. as for the controller granted its slightly nicer and smaller but the trigger buttons help for racing games.

There is no need to be fighting over what system is better!! They basically are the same, each system comes out with there own games and each system come out with the same games. I own both I bought the ps2 first and I was all xbox sucks and stuff then I started to play xbox with some friends. they are both good systems and both deserve the highest respect from everyone. Try xbox out you'll learn to love it.

All of Xbox bashers should be thankfulthe Xbox is here. If Sony was allowed to control the console market, they might milk the PS2 for many more years. Xbox is putting pressure on Sony. It is tobad the GameCube is not doing better. If 3 or 4 companies are fighting hard for market share, consumers benefit. If one company dominates the market, consumers usually suffer.

I own all the systems and find good qualities in each of them. People bashing the Xbox do not know the system or have blind bias against it. It is funny people hate it becuase Microsoft is making it. To me Sony and Microsoft areboth giant companies tryingto control the market. Just look at the damn memory sticks Sony keeps pushing.

You can call the Xbox and outdated PC, but it is cheaper then a PC and easy to use. Many people love consoles because you just dropthe game in and play. PC gamers have always said how much better their graphics are. With the Xbox the gap between PC and console games is getting smaller.

I just hope Nintendo's next system is not a bust. After the failure of Virtual Boy, N64,and GameCube has to have hurt them. Sony is going to take market share away from the GBA with their new hand held. Nintendo may become a software only company like Sega and 3DO.

I like both the PS2 and the XBOX. Yes the XBOX is faster with better graphics, but when I bought the XBOX, I got 3 games and an extra S Controller free...all for a measly $199. The PS2 only gives you one controller and one game for $249. I bought the XBOX based on finances. Plus, if I'm not mistaken (which I could be, cuz this is hear say) Grand Theft Auto is coming out on all systems in 2004. Halo, Grand Theft Auto, Tom Clancy Ghost Recon...if the company can still get Street Racing Syndicat out even though it goes bankrupt then that would be another to add to list. The only games that I believe I miss out on not having the PS2 is Gran Turismo (any of them) and Tokyo Extreme Racer Zero. Once I have enough money I'll get a PS2 to go with my XBOX.

if i had the money i wold buy an Xobx, but thats just because i already have a PS2 and wouldd like to see the differences :icon16:

No you can't get them for $10, but that seems kinda high for SNES games also. You can, however, get some games for $20. Plus they're better games with better graphics. Can you play Halo on the SNES, or GTA: Vice City? I didn't think so.....@$$, get a life. :thefinger

Hell yea man, SNES is the shit :) Super Mario World, Super Metroid, Stunt Race FX, All the classic RPGs, The Superscope... So many damn fun games...

I should go jack my SNES back from my little brothers house :p

Halo is freakin sweet! If you like 1st person shooters that is. Also, for the PS2 you have Metal Gear Solid, Gran Turismo, not to mention that all the Maddens and other sports games are sooooo much better on the larger systems. I agree, the old systems are fun, but the new games are the best. I like to play Mario Golf on the N64, Super Mario World, NBA Jam, Mortal Kombat and more on the SNES, and then there is Mario 1 2 & 3, Kung Fu, Contra, Excitebike, and other classics on the original NES. You can't leave out games such as Dig Dug, Joust, Jungle Hunt, and Pole Position on the all time greatest Atari, but I still have to say that the XBOX and PS2 and Gamecube have the better games.

nah, IMHO, the best games for SNES are FZERO, Secret of Mana, Illusion of Gaia, Secret of Evermore, Chrono Trigger, and SHADOWRUN.

I thought the reason we buy gaming systems, WAS FOR THE GAMES. If all the games were available for all the systems, then you could choose system for system, based on the performance stats. Each system has games that everyone wants to play, but since they arent for every systems, suck it up, buy all 3, and play till you have a giat sh*t eating grin on your face!

Man i have a PS2 and my brother has an XBOX

the XBOX Graphics blow the PS2 away and if you've seen any of Project Gotham 2 and Halo 2 you will know what i mean. PS2 is still cool tho cuz of all the Final Fantasy Games, Tokyo Extreme Racer (i like it even if its not that good) and Way of the Samurai, but most of the games aren't nearly as good as the stuff on the XBOX

I have both xbox and Ps2. But to be honest I think the xbox is way better. The first reason is Halo and Halo 2. the best games ever made. If that isnt reason enough to think xbox is better, I have a few more. Xbox is 4 player. I think it's re-god damn-diculous to have a system out now that doesnt have 4 controller slots. The graphics are marvelous. The only good ps2 graphics ive seen are in cinematics and that doesnt even count. 20 dollars for a memory card blows. and last of all J Swigz, if youve done any research you should actually like xbox if you hate microsoft because they make no money on the xbox. they actually LOSE money and microsoft even admits it because of marketing and how much they sell it for. If you dont belive me look it up. Its a proven fact.

I forgot to mention how dominate XBox live is aswell. Dont even try to compare the Ps2 online crap to Xbox live. Xbox has better and more online games and a LOT more members than the Ps2 Online.

I like the Xbox mostly because of Halo and Halo 2 and you dont have to buy memorycards. But you have to pay for everything else. You have to get a remote to watch DVD's and you have to pay for Xbox live. Why cant it be free like PS2. I like the PS2 because of all the games. GTA series, Red Faction and all the other cool ones shown at E3. I still dont see why though you should have to pay for Xbox live as long as you use it. Bill Gates is worth $48.8 billion. Don't you think you could give everyone an Xbox?
