told during break at work a few of us were talking about web browsers and such. Two of my coworkers were debating whether Mozilla's Firefox or Apple's Safari was better.
I know nothing about Safari and am an avid Firefox user. I went to apple's site and noticed that Safari is available for a PC download. I'm wondering if anyone has used it.
Pros and Cons??

The student laptops at my school had both browsers. Everyone agreed that safari was faster, but tech support blocked it because of security problems. By security problems they meant the hidden browsing feature that could be turned on and off to delete history and autofill on websites like google so that tech support couldn't see what people were doing at home on the laptops should they perform a spot check on that student.
So for faster browsing, Safari is better. Though there might have been some to tech support's "security problems" claim.

I use Firefox and love it. My concern with Safari is that it would be like Apple's Quicktime/iTunes and try to run your entire computer.

Safari is definitely faster. Security remains to be seen.

I just installed the x86 version of Safari, and so far I hate it.
The interface reminds me of Communist Russia (10 tones of gray) and it doesn't minimise when you click it in the taskbar.
Pages might load faster, but not worth switching from Firefox for me.

Tell me more about this. I have firefox auto delete browsing history each time I close it out. Isn't that the same? :dunno:

Not quite. I did the same thing after safari was blocked, but private browsing also deletes autofill on sites like google. You can do that manually on firefox too, but it's a bit of a hassle doing it each time. Plus, at my school, tech support gets really pissed when you change that kind of stuff, so private browsing is just easier.

Distrust 0.5.5 could not be installed because it’s not compatible with 2.0.0.4 . (Distrust will only work with firefox versions 1.0 & 1.6.) :frown:
