I think my car has a cold.

Ok first off when I start my car it runs fine then it starts to shutter like when you get a chill up your spine. Then when i go to drive it jerks repeatedly. There's no problem with acceleration. No chance of the car shutting off just alot of jerking and what seems to me to feel like either there's a gas problem or an exhaust problem. any ideas what the hell is going on?

whens last time you tuned it up?? sounds like plugs or wires unless you have a vaccum leak you can test vaccum hoses with carb cleaner spray it on hoses while running if it high idles you have a vaccum leak at that spot...also you say sputters under power it sounds like a plugs or wires also check your air filter...good luck.

It sounds just like you have some fouled plugs and/or possibly bad wires. When a cylinder misfires it causes a shudder, so if it's repeatedly misfiring it'll shudder.

The vacuum leak theory holds credence as well. Especially if it runs good at speed.

i will add fuel filter to the list

but your diagnosis is spot on.
it has a cold, and needs some chicken soup in the form of a general tune up

Hot damn once again you all have done it. I started late so I only got to change the 4 plugs and wires on the drivers side but I'm happy to say that so far it's running like it's old self again. I did run into a brittle wire on the plug closest to the driver in which theoot broke in half as i tried to remove it and before that just trying to get around the wire to get a grip on the boot the wire came out of the boot. That alone took like 40 min to get done as it was my first time changing my own plugs and wires. Tomorrow I'll try to do the other side and the distributor cap and other stuff.

Thanks again you all are so helpful.
