I believe it is time to change my rear brake shoes but have never done this. I was told it can be a pain in the butt. I have changed my front brake pads plenty of time but never the rear ones where there is drum brakes. I have a '98 4.0 v6 4x4. Can anybody direct me how to do this?

It's not to difficult. The worst part is dealing with all the springs and metal lines. Make sure that you only do one side at a time--and use the other side as a reference. Also, I bought the Chilton's reference that was a help to me.

Best Regards,
Stan

I agree with manlystanley. one side at a time, also you can take digital picture of it as a reference. check for groves or wear in the drums, any leakage in the wheel cylinders. personally I think drums are harder to do than disc brakes. It might be a job to do with a buddy whos done it before. Brakes are something you don't want to make a mistake on
