I tried to start it one day when I noticed that it wasn't engaging so I bought a new key tumbler (not the problem), I then bought an ignition switch (not the problem). After lookin under the steering column I noticed a part that was inbetween the tumbler and the switch....I was overjoyed until i went to the dealer to get this part and they told me that in order to get this pasrt I had to buy a new steering column. So I began to start it with a screwdtriver. That worked well until the switch got stripped. I decided to put a toggle switch and a button in to start it! Much to my surprise it didn't work....come to find out there is a sentry anti theft deterrant on it and I have NO idea how to bypass that....Please Help Me I miss my Jeep.....

The little wire you see is a hall effect switch. If it has come off and your lock cylinder is still salvageable, you may be able to solder it back where it goes. If this is not the case, try a salvage yard for the parts. You may be able to swap the out with a regular lock cylinder, you would have to disable the sentry system too. I'm not real sure you can't just get the lock cylinder without buying the whole column.

Thanks for your reply.....I tried the new tumbler....there is a part between the tumbler and the ignition switch....when the key turns it engages a pin (in the part on the steering column) the goes into the ignition switch so whn the key is in the start positi0on it turns the ignition switch.....this piece is plastic and like an alloy metal....cannot find it in a junk yard! thanks tho
