I have a 1 year old battery and I only drive my truck about 1x a week The last few weeks the battery has been dead. The current draw on the - side with the truck off and the hood light off is about 37ma. On the + side it is about 160ma. I took the truck to autozone and they hood it up to the tester and said that the alternator current was low but he did not say the alturnator was bad. I think it was reading .5amps. Once I jump start it or charge the battery it will run just fine. Any ideas?

Whether you put your meter in series with the pos or neg lead of the battery won't make a sh!t of difference. What problably is occuring is the terminals are corroded. The wires can look perfectly OK but still be screwy. You need to repair the wiring and fully charge the battery.

I did not think that it should make a difference. Do You have any idea why my battery keeps going dead?

Start it and drive it, it should be about 13.5-14.5 with the engine running. Does it fail to start after a long drive? Maybe the battery is bad, it happend to me with a DieHard that was about a yr old some years back.
