Which is faster a 1995 Camaro Z28 or a 1995 Firebird Transam?

I am only asking because I recently bought a 1997 Z28 and when deciding which car to buy I have found that it is increasingly difficult to find a 1997 or 1995 Transam for sale? And I did find one 1995 Transam For sale and it was High miles and really expensive? Why is THis?

Is a Transam faster or better than a Camaro Z28?

i think the TA was just a bit faster like 5hp or something if i remember correctly. we had a posting about this some time ago and im thinking it wasnt a big enough difference to make u wanna lean more to one side or the other...i myself think it depends on the day the car was built and the mood of the workers...your first 5 TA's can come off the line making 256hp and then the 6th one can be the beast of the bunch making 268hp....same with any car. no 2 are the exact same....yes mechines do alot of the work, but people still do sum wrench turning and other things that may affect how the car runs. so i think its all chance

They're the same car... but the pontiacs can tend to be a little heavier

It depends on who's driving and the present moon phase. Z28s like full moons, while Trans Ams like waxing cresent moons.

Very little difference. Hardly enough to call one better than the other.

It is up to the driver.

My thoughts exactly. Same car, engine, tranny...etc. One of the only major deciding factors between stock vs. stock would be the gears from the factory. And also as mentioned, driver's race.

Yes, they are the same car but, the T/A's have always had more ground effects which adds to their weight. But the T/A's I think look better.

It's just like the 87-93 Mustang GT or LX(hatch). Same damn car, but the GT's ground effects were another 200 pounds. Which made the LX a little faster.

I'm sorry, 200lb ground effects?????

WTF! ARE THEY MADE FROM STEEL?:screwy:

lol, correct me if im wrong.. but the TA is more xpensive than the Z because of two reasons
1) More goodies.. more options
2) because of the options, it was more xpensive to begin with, so less people bought it>>rare-R.

and yeah, ive heard the TA is heavier. a formula on the other hand.. is lighter than a Z. so that means the formula shouold be faster then the Z should be faster than the TA.

(same driver, exact same condition, etc.. [[would never happen that way, but still]])

I've never taken them off and weighed them, but that's what I've always heard from other people and read in the Mustang magazines. I thought that was a little high also...who knows?

It's like comparing a Trans Am to a Formula. Formula will be a tad faster because there's less crap on it. This is assuming we're comparing auto v. auto or manual v. manual.
