this is odd. the other day my 95 taurus wagon overheated when i pulled in my driveway. i figured there was a bad hose or something. come to find out the coolant pressure cap on the coolant tank was loose. i refilled the coolant and tightened the cap and it ran fine for a few days untill today. same problem. is my car possessed? has anyone else ever heard of this? is the cap shot? its fairly new i replaced the coolant tank about a year ago.

Are you sure the cap was properly installed??? I know on my 94, the cap is a b#$%h to fully seat.. make sure it's all the way to the lock..

Oh yeah, don't overheat the engine, that gauge starts climbing, stop and push it,, it's probably the worst thing that can happen to an engine nowadays, they're not tanks like the olden days..

"its fairly new i replaced the coolant tank about a year ago."
The gasket in the cap is shot and replacing it is a heck of a lot cheaper than new head gaskets. Listen to Taurus King, if it even thinks about overheating find a safe place quick stop the engine immediately. Overheating is the number one cause of blown head gaskets so get a new cap and until you do keep a close watch on the coolant level in the reservoir.
