95 cutlass AC fan not working

Hi everyone this is my first post so bear with me. I recently bought a 95 cutlass supreme SL 3100 (M) with 140,000km. I had the AC compress removed (because the bearings were shot) and replace with a pulley; a lot cheaper

Before I had the compress removed I notice the passenger side radiator fan didn't
Turn on when the AC was ON.

The driver side fan turn on at approx. 110 deg Celsius. But When I am setting it heavy traffic the temperature gauge climbs to 120 deg. Celsius or ¾ the way before the red. It doesn’t overheat but I think it's too hot and one fan is not sufficient.

I applied 12V to the fan and it works. I check the fuses, relay and continuity between the relay and fan, all is ok.. I remove the connector from the ECT (engine temperature sensor) and both fans turn on with the engine running. I check the 5V reference from PCM to the ECT connector, its ok.

From the many postings I have read here and the Haynes auto manual, I think the refrigerant pressure sensor is preventing the PCM from pull the relay coil to ground to turn on the fan but I am not sure.

This sensor has three wires. 5V, sensor-output and ground.. Can I jumper the appropriate pins on the pressure sensor connector to fool the PCM to turn on the fan?

Can someone with a better understand on how the PCM controls the cooling fans on the 95 cutlass help me Thanks.

Welcome to AF. The cooling fans come on at 222 degrees F, a scanner would let you know exactly what temp they come on as you let it heat up at idle. The coolant temp sensor sends a signal to the pcm, the pcm controls the relay.

Thanks for the quick reply. I'll see about getting a scanner, thank again.
